Engage Abilities is a registered service provider of the NDIS as well as a service provider for the Department of Communities and Justice through the Casework Support Scheme (CSS). Our team of highly experienced staff aims to provide our participants with quality services that reflect their needs and promote their dignity, wellbeing, abilities and independence.

We are looking to appoint a **Safeguarding officer **on a permanent part-time basis (21 hours a week). The Safeguarding officer reports to the Compliance manager.

**Responsibilities**
- The role consists of contributing to the development and effective implementation of new and existing quality and safeguarding frameworks through the following activities:

- Investigate incidents and complaints fairly and impartially
- Provide recommendations (i.e.: training) to overcome issues in line with Engage Abilities’ policies and procedures, NDIS and DCJ guidelines.
- Coordinate follow ups with internal stakeholders to ensure requirements and tasks relating to Incidents and Reportable Incidents are completed within the timeframe required.
- Record and keep track of incidents and complaints and their trend reporting for executive leadership team.
- Supporting participants, families and Engage staff, offering resources for support such as EAP, linking to or referring to support services of personnel who can offer assistance such as Mental Health Hotline, Beyond Blue, contacting support coordinators, contacting public guardian or behaviour support practitioner.
- Joining in staff meetings to contribute to staff’s awareness of the Quality and Safeguards incidents scheme.
- Assist the Compliance Manager with the internal audit programme and any additional tasks and project support as required.

**About you**
- You embrace Engage Abilities’ values and missions and are committed to achieving excellence in the community service sector
- You have at least 1 year experience overseeing internal investigations and have demonstrated your ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of the NDIS Behaviour Support reporting guidelines and the DCJ RPA guidelines.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills to establish and nurture positive relationships with different stakeholders and to conduct difficult conversations.
- You have the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
- You have a formal qualification in Social work, Education, Psychology, or a related field with a focus on child protection.
- You hold a driver licence

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 21 per week

**Salary**: $40.00 - $42.00 per hour
