The Role
Broadsheet Media is looking for a content creator to join our social media team in Melbourne. You’ll produce entertaining, engaging and best-in-class short-form video content for our Instagram and TikTok channels.
You’ll work on commercial campaigns as well as editorial content, and in collaboration with the broader social team ideate, produce, shoot and edit short-form social video that becomes must-watch content for our audiences on TikTok and Instagram. This will include fast turnaround content on rolling deadlines as well as longer-lead projects, with content that covers food and drink, fashion, art, design, entertainment, travel and active.
The content creator reports to Broadsheet’s social media manager, with a dotted line to the social media editor. The role involves reporting on social video performance and using that insight to inform future content creation. You will contribute to wider social strategy, as well as providing support to the social media team in the day-to-day running of our social platforms.
This is a role for someone obsessed with social media trends, who is keen to experiment with new tools and formats to build our audience and keep them engaged. You know and can articulate why some videos go viral, and others don’t, and have your finger on the cultural pulse - you know what people are talking about not just on TikTok and Instagram, but across our cities in general. You will have a knack for producing compelling social media content at speed, which doesn’t sacrifice on quality, accuracy or attention to detail.
Broadsheet editorial is a fast-paced, constantly changing news environment - this is a role for someone who remains calm under pressure and thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and rolling deadlines. Experience in a digital newsroom is a plus but not essential.
Knowledge of Broadsheet, its tone of voice and a passion for and understanding of culture in the cities it covers will be an advantage, as will a familiarity with the ways a publication can be repackaged socially with speed, clarity, and wit.

What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum one-year professional experience in social media or digital production, with a focus on content creation
- Experience managing social media channels - specifically Instagram and / or TikTok - for a brand or publisher
- Experience editing video content within social apps, especially at speed
- An interest in telling stories visually
- A creative and experimental mindset
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent short-copy skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Highly organised (good at prioritising, time management, multi-tasking, planning)
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Flexibility in a constantly changing news environment, including working flexible hours to meet deadlines
- A strong understanding of Broadsheet - its purpose, content, voice, style, tone and audience
- A passion for, and knowledge of, food, arts, fashion, culture and city life
