**Life Care Board Member**
The Board of Directors (governing body) of the Churches of Christ Life Care Inc. (Life Care) is accountable to its consumers and all other stakeholders, including the members of the organisation, for the governance and performance of the organisation. The current Board of Directors are recruiting a prospective Board Member with contemporary skills, knowledge, and experience in the provision of clinical care to align with the requirements of the Standards required in the Aged Care Act.

**Life Care Active**
Life Care Active is the first choice in health, fitness and wellbeing for men and women 50+ in Adelaide. Life Care Active provides a range of specialist allied health services and individual and group fitness programs. We are not a gym or a fitness studio offering a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
This unique combination of onsite health service practitioners and fitness professionals, ensures that your treatment complements your fitness or movement program to enhance flexibility, strength and overall good health to be ‘active’ every day.
**Life Care at Home**
At Home, created by Life Care, offers various services to improve overall well-being. As well as providing practical assistance to help you remain living independently, we offer services that support your physical and mental health, too. Life Care at Home provides services for Home Care Packages and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, depending on consumer-assessed needs.
**Chaplaincy**
Spiritual care through chaplaincy services is an increasingly important aspect of Life Care’s mission. Life Care’s chaplains play a vital role in our holistic approach to aged care and our cultural commitment to encouraging people to Live Every Day. Focus on spiritual well-being is embraced within Life Care’s five principles that are fundamental to creating a better ageing experience for those in our care.
**The Board**
The Board should have a mix of people with relevant backgrounds reflecting current needs, but typically including the whole:
- U**nderstanding and Passion for the Aged - **passion for ageing, especially those areas reflected through the operations of Life Care.
- ** People and community focus **- view people with respect, compassion and care, and understand community.
- ** Professional and Generalist skills **- specific professional, clinical, management, legal, financial skills, government and non-government experience, community experience.
- S**pecific skills **- aged care, clinical care, business management and development, property development, policy development
- ** Strategic skills
- **planning and development skills to take the organisation forward.
- ** Diversity**:
- bringing different representations and perspectives to the table.
The Board is responsible for the Life Care’s activities, policies and strategies. Board members oversee our operations and affairs on behalf of our consumers and ensure the community's expectations are met.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Setting the strategic direction for the Life Care
- Selection and performance management of the General Manager
- Reviewing, ratifying and monitoring systems of risk management and internal control, audit and legal compliance
- Monitoring the implementation of strategy and performance
- Approving and monitoring the annual budget and financial and other reporting
- Complying with Board member’s responsibilities
**About the Role**
The new Board member must, among other things, have the following experience, knowledge, abilities, and skills should be considered:
- Relevant contemporary practical experience in clinical care (essential).
- Formal qualifications.
- Suitability of Key Personnel Assessment
- Evidence of excellence in leadership, strategic planning, analytical skills, and interpersonal abilities and skills.
- Evidence of a solid commitment to the cause and willingness to devote energy to its fulfilment.
