About our School
Glenala State High School is a vibrant learning setting located in Durack, in Brisbane's south-west. Students from Durack, Inala, Richlands, Darra, Pallara and Doolandella make up the population of over 1070 students, including Indigenous Australians and many students who were born overseas. About the Role
Glenala State High School has a rich cultural diversity within the student body with 65% of students coming from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background. Our student population is made up of 21% Polynesian Australians, 21% African Australians (increasing), 16% Vietnamese Australians (increasing) and 11% First Nations Australians. As a Community Liaison Officer at Glenala State High School, you will be part of an extensive Student Support Team who work together to support the engagement and social emotional wellbeing of all students. You will also foster significant relationships between the school, families and community based services to assist students to remain engaged with education or training.
**You will have responsibility for, but not be limited to**:
- Develop and implement strategies for effective links between home and school related issues and to encourage greater interest and participation in school activities and programs.
- Facilitate opportunity for raising parental concerns and advocate equity of service provision.
- Promote liaison activities to provide information to parents, the school and its community, and facilitate community development activities to improve relations between the school and its community.
- Act as the contact for parents/carers and the indigenous community to determine relevant issues for improved relationships between the school and its indigenous community.
Mandatory requirements
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services. Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
