About the role
As Team Leader Course Maintenance, you’ll lead our dedicated course maintenance team in maintaining the Freeway Golf Course to the highest industry standards. You’ll be instrumental in implementing the Freeway Golf Course Management Plan, overseeing daily maintenance tasks, and ensuring efficient service delivery across the course.
You will supervise staff, coordinate weekly work schedules, manage irrigation systems, and contribute to long-term planning for turf quality and course presentation. Your role will include mentoring team members, liaising with internal stakeholders, and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, residents, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
You will ensure all golf course maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with council’s turf management standards. Your leadership will foster a positive, values-led team culture that prioritises community outcomes and workplace safety. From shaping irrigation programs to monitoring turf health and performance, you’ll play a central role in delivering an outstanding experience for all golf course users.
You’ll maintain detailed operational records, contribute to audits and continuous improvement processes, and support your team’s development through structured training, performance coaching and day-to-day guidance. Your ability to identify risks and implement preventative measures will be critical to success in this role.
About you
You bring a Diploma in Sports Turf Management and significant hands-on experience maintaining golf courses, particularly in preparing and presenting high-quality bent grass putting greens. Your knowledge of irrigation systems, pest management, and turf maintenance is matched by your confidence in leading teams and coaching staff to perform at their best.
You’re highly organised, safety-focused, and a confident communicator who builds positive relationships with staff, contractors and the community alike. You’re comfortable with technology, from digital record keeping to managing irrigation control systems, and you understand how to balance the technical and human sides of leadership.
