Trainee Custodial Officer - Collingwood Custody Centre
We have a couple part time Trainee Custodial Officer positions available at our Collingwood Custody Centre, with training due to start in early July.
As a Custody Officer working alongside people in challenging situations, a great deal of resilience, maturity, compassion, and empathy is required to promote positive engagement with those detained in custody and diffuse and manage conflict that may occur.
It's imperative that people are made to feel safe and supported whilst in our care.
About The Role
- Ensuring the welfare of people in court and custody.
- Managing and escorting them through the facility and in court and providing security during court hearings.
- Operating the control room and ensuring the safe and secure operation of the Custody Centre.
- Reporting on incidents, occupational health and safety, risk mitigations and intelligence.
- Searching people in custody.

What We Offer
- Tues, Wed & Thurs shifts | 8am - 5pm
- Variety of tasks and daily challenges
- Paid 4-6 week, Full Time comprehensive training program to ensure you are set up for success
- Penalties and overtime available in alternate Melbourne locations

**Requirements**:

- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with people of all ages from varying backgrounds
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Experience working as part of and contributing towards a close knit team
- Strong written communication with an understanding of report writing
- Positive, solutions focused approach to complex and challenging issues with the ability to think outside the box
- Experience in dealing with and respect for confidential and sensitive information
