**The Role**
Strategy, Policy, and Industry Group is seeking a number of Policy Officers to contribute to the Department of Defence’s key policy and national security functions to protect and further Australia’s national interests.

Your role would be to work as part of a team to strengthen Australia’s national security and economic resilience including:

- Using your skills to devise long-term strategy and policies to guide and align Defence.
- Direct Defence’s international engagement.
- Help build a sovereign industrial base.

The Policy Officer roles are spread across Strategy, Policy, and Industry Group. While these roles are highly varied, they all involve working as part of a high-performing team to deliver national security objectives. Your team’s work could range from preparing the Minister to conduct talks with their international counterparts on defence strategic policies or military engagement, working with the Australian Defence Force to provide policy guidance for operations, designing and implementing programs to build capability with international partners, scanning the horizon to assess emerging strategic issues, or guiding industry to better meet Defence requirements.

No two days would be the same - you might help to conduct meetings to support and influence stakeholders, brief Defence’s Senior Leadership, work closely with other government agencies, industry stakeholders and the public, or contribute to corporate transformational change.
