**THE ROLE**

A new and exciting opportunity to join a growing team and work on key renewable and energy storage projects for Australia, is now available. Reporting to the Senior Asset Development Manager, the **Asset Development Specialist** will play an active role and be responsible for development of Greenfield and Brownfield projects in Power Generation. This includes concept design, feasibility, technical design due diligence, tendering, and contractual negotiation input.

The Asset Development Specialist is primarily responsible for project inputs, has a multi-disciplinary technical and project skillset and can properly communicate and co-ordinate with different parts of the Origin business. The role also supports the Asset project delivery team where appropriate. From time to time, there will be the need to travel to sites/ various locations across Australia.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Support the Senior Asset Development Manager and Asset Development Manager(s) with management of growth opportunities.
- Support technical due diligence activities on future asset infrastructure opportunities.
- Manage detailed and thorough analysis of technical opportunities and solutions.
- Carry out feasibility studies and technical assessments to make recommendations on development project decision making.
- Carry out technical design reviews and provide decision making to optimise cost, risk, and performance for the proposed development projects.
- Ensure project designs meet Origin’s operational, maintenance, safety, and stakeholder requirements.
- Support regulatory processes including Development Approvals and supporting documentation.
- Produce and review project technical specifications that balance project cost and design to achieve optimised construction costs that also ensure the long-term performance, reliability, and maintainability of the assets.
- Support the tender process and liaise with internal SME employees and external contractors on technical, project and commercial matters.
- Manage project, consultancy, and Origin costs to meet team budgets and project requirements.
- Lead & mentor Junior Development Specialists in the Asset Development Team.

**ABOUT YOU**

**To be considered for the role you will have**:

- Formal Engineering / Engineering trade qualifications
- Significant relevant experience in the Energy/ Power Industry (+5) years
- Experience with renewable technologies & Asset Management principles - Solar, BESS, Pumped (Hydro) Storage
- Project management experience (experience in SAP desirable)
- Demonstrated capability in Development Projects incl. project risk management, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Ability to keep an outlook on future developments in growth and renewable technology
- Competent and capable to coordinate with external stakeholders such as AEMO, suppliers, councils, network providers etc
- Be flexible to meet tight and often changing deadlines as project conditions and priorities change.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Understanding of commercial modelling and analysis
- Knowledge of the tendering and probity process
- Ability to travel (sometimes at short notice)
