Join us as Engineering Manager for the Energy Industries Division where you will be managing a team of designers/engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective and timely engineering solutions to customers. In your role, you will formulate plans, allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets as well. Diving, and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability. The role reports directly into the Australian Head of Energy Industries and will be based in Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane, Australia. You will be a key member in the Energy Industries Australian leadership team to help lead a experienced national engineering team.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Ensuring development of performance targets in line with global/local targets and their achievement through regular oversight, defining required actions for improvement
- Providing engineering support during the bid phase to develop solutions, execution strategies whilst ensuring that the resources required to deliver the technical solutions are correctly accounted for (e.g., the requirements for safety, technical competence, quality, schedule, and cost)
- Guiding the team in building engineering/operational capability through training, mentoring, and shadowing programs. Conducting management reviews to guide operation of continuous improvement activities
- Participating in defining the annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints
- Conducting regular progress reviews, identifies, and managing technical risks. Ensuring completion of risk assessments and opportunity assessments (e.g., variation orders and claims) and implementation of resulting actions across projects
- Collaborating with supply chain and project management to negotiate with suppliers of services and equipment to meet the contractual obligations of systems orders
- Ensuring that type tests (if applicable) are carried to meet the contractual obligations and “Factory Acceptance Tests/Inspections” at supplier's premises are carried out to meet the contractual obligations of systems orders
- Ensuring commissioning activities (if applicable) are implemented in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements
**Your background**:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or higher with 10 years of experience
- Experience in managing large engineering teams with multi-discipline
- Executed complex projects technically and strong understanding of electrical and control systems.
- Ability to work with projects of different size, complexity, and contractual types
- Ability to assess, propose and implement solutions for rapid recovery of troubled or challenged projects (need based).
- Collaborating with other business unit to drive engineering outcomes on projects sometimes outside the direct field of expertise
