About the role Are you a seasoned leader with experience managing complex operations and delivering exceptional client-centred services? Join us as the Operational Services Manager (Deputy Usher of the Black Rod) and play a pivotal role in the day-to-day functioning of a key parliamentary office, the Usher of the Black Rod Office.
This is a unique opportunity to lead, develop and motivate a small team, while providing crucial support to Members of both Houses of Parliament. You'll thrive in a dynamic environment where organisational and interpersonal skills and adaptability are essential.
**In this role you will**:
- Lead, manage, and develop a small team, ensuring the highest standard of service delivery.
- Implement and oversee a demand-based operating model, featuring multiskilling and flexibility, to meet client evolving needs.
- Oversee visitor management services, facilitating booking and set-up of meeting rooms, supporting facilities requests, and in-chamber assistance during parliamentary sittings.
- Represent your manager (the Usher of the Black Rod) in various capacities, nurturing strong, collaborative relationships across departments.
In order to meet operational needs, this role is required to work principally from Parliament House.

- Your commitment to a high standard of service delivery, coupled with multitasking and organisational skills, allows you to juggle various responsibilities.
- Your exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills enable you to engage effectively with diverse staff, stakeholders, and senior levels while maintaining a high level of discretion.
- You possess a solid understanding of Parliamentary Chamber operations and the legislative process, or you're prepared to learn.
