Risk and Compliance Manager

Rabobank has an opening for a Risk and Compliance Manager in Sydney. This role is structured within the First Line Risk & Security Team within Rabobank’s COO Domain. You will join a highly engaged team, comprised of Risk and Compliance Managers, Senior Risk Analysts and Risk Analysts.

Your area of focus will be COO’s Banking Operations, Middle Office and support teams. This is a visible role where you will have the opportunity to make an impact working across a breadth of risk and compliance areas.

**Top Role Accountabilities**:

- Champion a risk culture and risk and compliance management practices within the division
- Incorporate and implement the requirements of the Operational Risk Management Framework and Compliance Framework into day-to-day business activities within the division
- Manage and enhance the divisional strategies for effective management of Risk and Compliance
- Investigate incidents, root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions for the incident management process
- Work with the Senior Manager COO Risk and Compliance to lead the COO Risk and Compliance team through managing, mentoring and coaching a few Risk Analysts to assist them to effectively fulfil their roles
- Liaise, coordinate and work with the 2nd line Risk Management functions (including Compliance, BCM and others) and 3rd line Risk Management function (Internal Audit) to implement the Risk Management Framework and Compliance Framework within the COO Division
- Ensure new initiatives appropriately and adequately address risk, control and compliance matters
- Complete all reporting requirements in a timely manner
- Manage stakeholder obligations and ensure that the division is in a position to meet all obligations
- Lead targeted reviews of specific areas in response to Risk and Compliance Management information or requests from various stakeholders
- Educate, coach and assist stakeholders within the division in operational risk and compliance management

**To be successful in the role, you will have**:

- A minimum of 5 years related experience in controls, operational risk, and compliance
- Knowledge of causes, influences and drivers of operational risk
- An understanding of banking and finance operations
- Experience in managing and evaluating risk
- An understanding of risk and compliance management within the financial services industry and related regulatory standards (Basel II, Privacy, AML/CTF, and APRA Prudential Standards)
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
- Demonstrable experience managing stakeholders and building robust working relationships
- Ability to mentor and coach team members effectively
