**About the Role**:
The Student Wellbeing team has responsibility for policies, initiatives and projects relating to student wellbeing and mental health, including the implementation of the Government's Student Wellbeing Package, Guidance Services, support for LGBTIQ+ students, and provision of free period products to students in Queensland state schools.
We are seeking an individual with excellent project management and communication skills, and an eye for detail.

**The Principal Policy Officer will be required to**:

- Prepare and provide expert advice, responses, reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence, with respect to the state-wide implementation of strategic policy initiatives, as they relate to student wellbeing including whole of government initiatives, emerging initiatives and schooling policies and procedures
- Lead and participate in projects and aspects of the team's work to successfully develop strategic policy, guidelines, state-wide service delivery implementation and program evaluation
- Develop responses to complex and sensitive issues and concerns emanating from the Office of the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General and other high-level sources
- Undertake research, analysis, monitoring, review and evaluation of significant policies and projects
- Establish effective networks and liaise, communicate and coordinate with key personnel to achieve outcomes.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate the following key attributes:

- A track record in achieving high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive or high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and contribute to stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
- Strong understanding of the factors that influence students' wellbeing and mental health, and of best-practice approaches and interventions that can be implemented in schools to support students' wellbeing and mental health.
