About the Role
The Business Customer Collections team has functional and strategic responsibility for all processes relating to the credit management of AGL’s business customer base across large and small markets.
Key goals are managing overdue accounts to a reasonably low level, prevent bad debts, whilst consuming the least amount of resources and contributing to the enrichment of our customer's experience with AGL.
The Credit Assessment Officer will work closely with the Business Collections Team and Business Sales team to support positive commercial outcomes for AGL whilst minimizing risk. The key purpose of this role is to deliver value added credit assessments on acquisitions and retention opportunities, and recommendations that will drive better strategic pricing outcomes for customers and AGL, to support quoting & tenders within Business Customers, to win and retain the right customers.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carry out credit assessment activities including analysing customer financials that require additional attention
- Identifying and working with the relevant teams to implement process improvements including BOT or system automation
- Work closely with the Sales and Customer Collections teams to deliver credit assessments that protect AGL commercially, and drive growth in our salesIdentify customer attributes and profiles that define good or bad credit risk to continuously improve risk management activity and policy rules
- Work with Collections and Customer Resolutions to accurately maintain the Security Deposit and Bank Guarantee responsibilities (Reconciling to GL) in a timely and commercially responsible manner
- Pro-actively alert key stakeholders to risk situations to mitigate exposure
- Work closely with key stakeholders within the Commercial Pricing, Sales and Customer Collection teams to meet the Customer Guarantee and to be recognised by our business customers as their Trusted Energy Partner by knowing our customers energy needs, increasing their energy productivity and making it easier for our customers to manage their energy needs
- Work with internal & external stakeholders to understand trends in credit assessment and build learnings into the process that is delivered
About You
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good conceptual skills and an appreciation of the technical nature of financial reports and overall credit assessments
- A detailed understanding of analytical techniques and financial report assessment
- Effective risk management skills, demonstrated through use of systems and processes
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide insights and decisions based on analytical reasoning
- An ability to create solutions that clearly outline the delivery and measurement of value
- An eye for detail
- Strong computer literacy with SAP and desktop tools
- Experience in credit assessment, financial report understanding and general analytics
- Experience managing a third-party contractor to deliver to contract conditions and expected outcomes
- Tertiary qualification in a business, mathematics or engineering field is desirable
