**ABOUT US**

Crop Risk Underwriting Pty Ltd (CRU) is a specialist crop insurance underwriting agency providing innovative insurance products for broadacre crops, cotton, and perennial plantations across Australia. We integrate digital agriculture and remote sensing technologies to redefine agricultural insurance, helping clients manage risks from hail, fire, and adverse weather events. Our products serve wheat, barley, canola, legumes, cotton, forestry, and perennial crops through our national broker network.

**ROLE SUMMARY**

We are seeking a qualified Agricultural Technical Advisor to provide expert technical analysis and agronomic support for our crop insurance products. This role combines applied agricultural science with insurance technology, using crop simulation programs, GIS systems, and agronomic data to enhance our risk assessment capabilities and product development for Australian farming systems.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collect, analyse, and interpret agricultural data including crop performance, soil conditions, weather patterns, and farm management records to support insurance product development and risk assessment.
- Provide technical agronomic advice to brokers, loss adjusters, and clients regarding crop production practices, growing conditions, and environmental factors affecting insured crops.
- Utilise crop simulation programs, GIS mapping systems, and agronomic indices to assess regional crop risks and support underwriting decisions for broadacre, cotton, and perennial crop insurance products.
- Conduct spatial and temporal analysis of cropping systems across different Australian agricultural regions to inform product design and premium setting.
- Support claims assessment by providing expert analysis of crop losses, growing conditions, and production factors affecting insured yields.
- Conduct farm visits and consultations with primary producers to assess practices.
- Deliver training sessions and workshops to farmers and industry groups on risk management and production practices.
- Advise farmers on pest and disease control, soil improvement, and sustainable farming techniques in relation to insurance coverage.
- Maintain technical documentation and prepare reports on agronomic research, product performance, and industry trends for internal and external stakeholders.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or closely related discipline.
- Minimum one year of highly relevant post-qualification experience in agronomy, crop science, agricultural data analysis, or technical agricultural services.
- Strong knowledge of Australian grain growing practices, crop production systems, and environmental factors affecting agricultural productivity.
- Understanding of meteorological factors and climatic processes affecting crop performance and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prepare technical reports and recommendations
- Australian work rights required.

**HOW TO APPLY**

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
