The sporting program at Wenona is a vibrant and central part of school life, characterised by high levels of student engagement and participation that focuses on team spirit, fair play, courage, adventure and balanced, healthy lifestyles. We are currently seeking outstanding, enthusiastic Tennis coaches to assist with the growth and development of the Wenona Tennis program.
All coaching positions will require before and/or after school training commitments at various times between Monday - Friday. Coaching positions may also require you to be available on Saturdays, normally a morning commitment during the summer season. Pay and conditions are determined by experience, qualifications and level of professional representation as determined by the Principal in consultation with the Director of Sport and Performance K-12.
Successful applicants will be required to provide the School with a current Working with Children Certificate, be eligible to work in Australia and required to undertake a coach induction process.
**Tennis at Wenona**:
Tennis is an all-year round, optional co-curricular activity at Wenona and is offered to students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Our current programs include:
- Hot Shots (Kindergarten - Year 4)
- Top Spin (Year 5-6)
- IPSHA Tennis Competitions (Year 4-6)
- IGSA Tennis Competitions and the Tennis Development program (Year 7-12)
- Tildesley Shield and other Invitational tournaments
Wenona has an external facility hiring agreement to service the various programs listed.
**Head Coach**:
Working across all programs with a variety of age and abilities, the Head Coach is responsible for technically leading the on-court coach delivery while providing direction and guidance to other program coaches.
An extensive experience of 10+ years at community and pre-elite level, preferably within an education environment, matched with a minimum Tennis Australia Coaching qualification of Club Professional or higher, will demonstrate skills, knowledge, and ability to proficiently develop and implement a structured annual program focusing on the technical and tactical skill development and competition preparation and performance. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the on-court coaching of all programs.
Hours will be predominantly before and after school, Monday to Friday, during Term 2 & 3 with up to 20 hours per week, increasing to 30 hours per week during Terms 1 & 4 with a Saturday morning commitment and increased on court coaching hours required during the summer season. Additional hours may be required all year round to assist with holiday camps, tournaments, player evaluations and feedback, team selections and planning of program materials.
**Program Coaches**:
Potential to work across all groups with a variety of age and abilities, under the direction of the Head Coach to deliver on-court technical and tactical skill based sessions.
An experience of 2+ years at community level, preferably within an education environment, or elite level playing experience, will be matched with a minimum Tennis Australia Coaching qualification and willingness to continually gain further qualifications up to Junior Development or higher. The successful applicants will have demonstrated knowledge and experience to proficiently teach the technical and tactical skill development aspects of the game and assist with competition preparation and performance.
Hours will be predominantly before and after school, Monday to Friday, during Term 2 & 3 with up to 10 hours per week, increasing to 15-20 hours per week during Terms 1 & 4 with a Saturday morning commitment and increased on court coaching hours required during the summer season. Additional hours may be required all year round to assist with holiday camps, tournaments, player evaluations and feedback.

- An active interest in and commitment to the promotion of Girls’ sport
- Ability to role model effective behaviours while acknowledging professional boundaries
- Ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner
- Ability to develop and implement programs set by the Head of Sport and respective Sport Coordinator
- Reliable and committed to each season
- A commitment to professional development and to working in accordance with the Wenona Staff Code of Conduct
- A sense of humour
