Warwick Institute of Australia Pty Ltd is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) based in Australia, delivering high-quality vocational education and training programs to both domestic and international students. The Institute offers nationally accredited qualifications across a range of disciplines, focusing on practical skills, employability, and academic excellence.
The position - Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Institute’s database systems, ensuring data accuracy, security, availability, and compliance with relevant education sector standards. The role supports key institutional functions including student management, admissions, compliance reporting, and administrative efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Design and manage database systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server to support student records, enrolments, learning outcomes, and business operations.
- Maintain and update the college’s Student Management System ensuring that student records, enrolments, academic results, attendance, and progress data are accurate, and well-organised across all programs.
- Implement and monitor security protocols including role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and data encryption to protect sensitive information within systems.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and performance monitoring using tools like SQL Profiler.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement optimisation techniques to improve data retrieval speed and system responsiveness.
- Develop custom reports and dashboards to assist academic and administrative teams in data-driven decision making.
- Execute regular backups of all critical databases and maintain a tested disaster recovery strategy to ensure the college’s data is secure, protected, and restorable in the event of system failures or data breaches.
- Prepare and manage data submissions to government platforms such as PRISMS, and USI systems, ensuring data compliance with ASQA standards and Department of Education reporting requirements.
- Perform regular audits to identify and correct data inconsistencies, duplication, or formatting errors. Ensure all records meet internal policies and external compliance requirements.
- Maintain documentation of data architecture, configurations, and processes to support system updates, compliance, and business continuity.
- Conduct end-user support and training sessions to help staff generate reports, input student data correctly, and interpret system-generated insights.
**Position Requirements**:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Professional Experience: At least 1 year of work experience in database administration.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to work with tools such as MySQL, SQL Server, Power BI etc.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with non-technical users across departments.
