**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Emerging Technologies Manager

**Environment**

Through leadership and influence, the NHVR administers a national system that delivers consistent and streamlined
regulatory services and administration to the Australian heavy vehicle road transport sector, reducing regulatory burden
whilst enabling greater safety and productivity.

The Data and Technology Division provides strategic engagement, delivery and operational stability across Information

**Primary Objectives**
- Understand the business strategy, customer pain points, market trends, and identifying and evaluating

technologies that will bring business value now and in the future.
- Act as advisor to the business, including the CEO, CIO and other key Executies and Directors, allowing them to

be informed on technology innovation opportunities, including emerging technology within Heavy Vehicle
Industry or regulatory environments that the NHVR may need to respond to.
- Facilitate and act as a conductor to leverage pockets of existing innovation within NHVR.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- As a general technologist, you will leverage your skills to research and stay current with new and emerging

technologies, rapidly assessing opportunities for business value and impacts to operating models and regulatory
services.
- With appropriate level of detail for the audience, report on the potential introduction of emerging technologies

and their uses as seen across other industries and regulatory bodies with a view to inform CEO, CDTO and other
key Executives and Directors within NHVR
- Formulate emerging technology strategies that will set the foundation to solve complex business strategic goals

and explore technology opportunities through targeted experimentation.
- Balance enthusiasm and realism in communicating ideas, you will work with a variety of roles inside and outside

the Data & Technology team to build out innovation capabilities, developing plans to incorporate into the
corporate culture to impact the broader organization.
- Responsible for identifying and launching innovation projects, for running evaluation and experimentation

activities, for working with other parts of the organization to support and mentor innovation, and for working
with outside partners.
- Establish and manage external partnerships and relationships with government bodies, companies and

acadamia that may introduce or accelerate innovation and new technologies within NHVR.
- Establish and define an innovation community across the organization to increase communication engagement

and collaboration.
- Lead and manage relevant resources allocated to innovation or workplace technologies, providing coaching and

capability uplift. Mentor and motivate with use of new tools and technologies that help automate business
workflows, result in quick return on investment and support digital transformation.
