Workshop Supervisor

Zitron Australia Pty Ltd is a growing, ventilation fan manufacturing company, suppling industrial fan units to the mining and road tunnel sector, based in the southern suburbs of Perth.
An exciting opportunity exists for a talented Workshop Foreman, to join the fast-growing Australian arm of an international group that is a global leader in the field of ventilation for underground mines, road and railway tunnels, and metro systems.
The company is part of a group that operates in over 80 countries on 5 continents. In Australia, the company has supplied the ventilation required for the construction and long-term operation of many of the nation's major underground transport infrastructure projects.
The workshop foreman will also collaborate with the ERP implementation team (located overseas), assessing and proposing solutions for process inefficiencies and requirements for the ERP system.
Qualifications & experience:
- An advantage to have approximately 5-10 years' experience in a similar role.
- Prior experience managing crews and dealing with various disciplines.
- Solid leadership qualities, excellent communication skills and organisational skills, including workflow planning.
- Capable of working under pressure and in a multicultural environment.
- Trade or Engineering qualifications - experience within steel fabrication / manufacturing industry, including welding and surface treatments.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the workshop staff, ensuring that all work is completed on time and to the required standard.
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff as needed.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed in the workshop.
- Technical support and direction to workshop employees.
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and NDT principles.
- Sign off on workshop staff time sheets and leaves.
- Ensure all welding is performed to Australian standards.
- Coordinate with warehouse and procurement to ensure that dispatch receiving local deliveries/pickups are efficient and timely.
- Run toolbox talks as and when required to inform and address issues with staff.
- Plan daily activities for all factory personnel.
- Mentoring and training apprentices and staff.
- Monitor procedures and tasks for risk reduction and safety improvements
- Ensure housekeeping standards are kept.
- Ensure all documentation for jobs is completed, sign off and place in the appropriate file.
- Ensure the flow of communication between workshop staff, office staff, and production coordinator.
- Familiar with quality control and working in line with Australian Standards (welding and fabrication) and other international standards as may be required.
- Assist the ERP implementation team (located overseas), setting up the different processes for the MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
- Positive attitude, support workshop with technical experience and knowledge
