**About the Role**:
Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking a Course Portfolio Manager with extensive experience in the TAFE network and a strong understanding of the operating context of both vocational education and higher education. This leadership role is responsible for driving course innovation, guiding strategic decisions on course development, continuation, and retirement, and ensuring offerings align with industry needs, student demand, and the institution’s strategic priorities. The Course Portfolio Manager will coordinate the Course Portfolio Committee and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure Melbourne Polytechnic remains a leader in delivering industry-relevant education.
**Duties**:
- Ensure that Melbourne Polytechnic’s course portfolio is consistently aligned with the
institution’s strategic objectives, responsive to operational and regulatory imperatives, and
reflective of the needs and preferences of both industry and students
- Lead and coordinate the Course Portfolio Committee, guiding decisions on which courses
should be developed, continued, improved, or retired. Ensure that these decisions align with
Melbourne Polytechnic’s strategic goals and operational needs.
- Implement and maintain a framework to accelerate growth at Melbourne Polytechnic, focusing
on improving the performance of existing courses, identifying adjacent growth opportunities,
and exploring new markets.
- Oversee the development of Melbourne Polytechnic’s annual Program Delivery Plan,
ensuring that it aligns with the institution’s strategic direction, addresses regulatory
requirements, and meets the needs of industry and students.

**Skills and Experience Required**:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications together with a strong understanding of the operating context of
vocational education and higher education.
- Possession of a valid Working with Children Check.
- Proven experience in course development and delivery within a vocational education setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management, relationship building and
organisational change.
- Strong analytical capabilities for evaluating opportunities, making strategic decisions and
solving complex problems.
- High standard of oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to
communicate with confidence and in an accessible way.
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to work under tight deadlines and manage
competing work priorities.
