Engagement Support Carer

**Tabulam and Templer Homes for the Aged (TTHA)** is a multicultural aged care provider that promotes independence, self-esteem, choice and outstanding customer service to its residents. We have current vacancies for people who are passionate about caring for the elderly and are seeking long and rewarding careers within the organisation.
We are looking for **Engagement support Carers** who are passionate about caring for aging Victorians living with Dementia and can communicate well within a team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist and support the care and lifestyle team to deliver meaningful engagement to residents living with Dementia in our memory support unit
- Support residents to optimise their involvement and independence and engage in activities of their choice.
- Achieve high quality support to residents with their daily living activities
- Observing and identifying triggers and managing them with engagement and care prior to escalation of changed behaviours
- Meet reporting and documentation standards
- Focuses on ageing well and delivering a service that strives to maintain and enhance the resident's health and well-being, capabilities, independence, choice, privacy, dignity and safety.
**About you..**
As someone with previous experience in the aged care industry, you are a kind, genuine and caring individual who is committed to providing a consistent, professional and effective level of support. You are also respectful and passionate about caring for older people.
You are an upbeat and positive person, who is able to clearly communicate, and build genuine relationships with Residents, the team and other staff and ensure a high level of dignity is maintained.
To be considered for this role, you MUST have the following relevant experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications:
- Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent)
- Completed courses regarding Living with Dementia
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of the needs and issues relating to older people and the importance of maintaining independence and social connections for residents living with dementia
- Understanding of aged care regulatory requirements, including accreditation
- Ability to multi-task, organise and prioritise
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems within authority
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, flexible and able to commit to a variety of shifts
- 12 months previous experience within Aged Care (desired)
- Applicants must have a valid police clearance
- Must have COVID-19 Vaccination
