**About the role**

Council is looking for a motivated and driven individual to lead a team of officers focused on improving resource recovery across the city. The position will also manage the delivery of projects and programs and play a key role in the development and procurement of waste contracts.

Key responsibilities include:

- Procurement of waste services including collection, disposal and processing.
- Developing and delivering policies, strategies and reporting to improve resource recovery across the City.
- Coordinating and managing project and programs relating to resource recovery and waste management from initiation through to completion ensuring the successful delivery of required outcomes, including all assigned budgets, resources and staff.

Developing, implementing and monitoring Council’s Waste Strategy, reporting on achievements across the organisation.

**About the person**

The successful applicant will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in an environmental or sustainability field or a minimum 5 years’ experience in waste management in a government context.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically relative to the resolution of complex problems/challenges
- High level presentation, consultation and communication (verbal and written) skills, including confidence dealing with the community.
- Demonstrated experience with the development and/or management of waste contracts and procurement documentation
- An ability to think strategically and innovate to resolve complex challenges
- An ability to develop, evaluate and present complex business cases including financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and teamwork, building relationships with direct reports and people at all levels both internally and externally
