**Who we are**
**The People and Policy Branch** are the front line of human resources (HR) for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups and support our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. We offer general and specialist HR advice and case management services for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, recruitment, attendance, behaviour, and workplace rehabilitation.

**The People Support Rehabilitation Team** provides tailored rehabilitation case management services for the department, supporting our people with a strong focus on providing support to staff and managers on complex health related matters. The team offers specialised advice on complex early intervention and rehabilitation matters to drive outcomes for all stakeholders. The operating environment is largely driven by the needs of our business and its people and whole of APS and department specific HR policies and programs.

**The Job**
The duties of the role include but are not limited to:

- Providing advice and support to managers and employees on a wide range of human resource management matters within an Australian Public Service (APS) context ideally with experience with Early Intervention, non-compensable and compensable management of injured workers.
- Delivering injury management initiatives.
- Dealing with complex and sensitive people issues.
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
- Identifying competing priorities and working with autonomy and in collaboration with the rest of the team, implementing improvements to work processes and tasks to achieve efficiencies and meet service level standards.
- Case management.
- Providing written and verbal advice based on regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Other duties as required.

**Please note** that this selection process will initially be used to fill one ongoing vacancy and that the role may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:

- The ability to quickly interpret, implement and explain internal rehabilitation, return to work, and leave policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in health and/or workers compensation case management.
- Allied health experience is an advantage in this role but not required.
