We are looking for an Underwriting Manager - Financial Lines, to join our team in Perth. This pivotal role focuses on retaining and growing Zurich’s portfolio of insurance business across Western Australia through exceptional relationship management, underwriting expertise, and strategic new business development.

The Underwriting Manager will work closely with Underwriting and Pricing teams and key internal stakeholders such as Finance, Claims, Accumulation Management, Reinsurance, Customer Distribution, Legal, Public Affairs and Marketing, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver the business objectives.

You will drive a culture of continuous improvement to improve Underwriting processes and efficiency and nurtures talent to ensure that the organisation remains sustainable and fit for the future.

You will also be responsible for the following:

- Lead retention efforts by nurturing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and distribution partners.
- Proactively identify and address client needs to ensure high satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
- Deliver tailored solutions that align with Zurich’s underwriting standards and client expectations.
- Evaluate, assess, and underwrite insurance risks within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with Zurich’s policies and standards.
- Provide technical advice and innovative solutions to brokers and clients on complex risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting underwriting practices.
- Support targeted new business acquisition by identifying growth opportunities within the local market.
- Collaborate with Zurich’s distribution and product teams to develop compelling proposals for brokers and prospective clients.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire confidence in stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a focus on delivering results in a competitive market.
- Familiarity with the Western Australian insurance market and its unique characteristics is highly desirable
