What is the role?

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and dynamic individual to join the AFP in a key role responsible for the development and delivery of curatorial programs.

In line with the Australian Federal Police Museum’s strategic direction, the Exhibitions and Public Programs Officer will focus on initiating, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating relevant, engaging and inspiring exhibitions and public programs that connects the museum with its target audiences.

The Exhibition and Public Programs Officer will be part of the AFP Museum team within the Communications and Customs Branch.

**We're interested in hearing from people who have**:
Applied knowledge of developing professional and contemporary public programs from concept to execution whilst maintaining exemplary project management principles
Outstanding oral communication skills and an ability to write and edit authoritative and accessible text
Demonstrated ability to analyse and conceptualise problems, formulate and execute appropriate creative solutions and negotiate successful outcomes in an innovative and sensitive manner

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?
Develop imaginative and distinctive permanent and temporary public programs that supports the museum’s mission, vision and forward plan
Following best practice museum principles, engage with museum donors, stakeholders, staff in other collecting organisations and police jurisdictions to assess curatorial opportunities and develop a significant and well-documented collection
Keep abreast of contemporary developments in cultural and arts trends and practice
Establish and maintain peer networks within the museum and education industry to identify future project collaboration opportunities
Develop and support effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Essential Requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Tertiary qualifications in education and/or curatorial studies
At least 2 years’ experience in a learning environment or museum education setting
Current ACT Working with Vulnerable Peoples Card
Desirable Requirements
Experience with museum collection management systems
Knowledge of the PACER program

This role is located in Canberra and applicants are expected to be based in the ACT Region
