**Position Summary**:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Staff Specialist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for service standards, patient throughput, continuing education, research, training of staff and students as well as liaison with key stakeholders and other relevant professional bodies.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
- Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
- Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians - Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (RACP AChPM) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award;
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Palliative Medicine commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position;
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching at speciality registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
- Demonstrated management ability in clinical service planning and the provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service with knowledge and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation;
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;
- Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
