Base Melbourne is in an exciting phase of growth, and to support our expanding creative team, we are looking for a Mid-Weight Designer.

As the newest Base, the Melbourne studio is a tight-knit team of six with an extended cast of close collaborators. We work openly and collaboratively across various industries, including arts & culture, beauty & fashion, architecture, technology, media, sports, and hospitality.

We are seeking a talented and multidisciplinary Mid-Weight Designer to work with our team to conceptualize, create, and manage the day to day — contributing to the success of a wide range of projects. You’ll work across brand identity, campaigns, digital, packaging, and more.

**_ Responsibilities_**
- Relentlessly pursue unique and original creative concepts that transcend design trends.
- Help clients define and solve communication problems by understanding their brands and the overall strategic picture.
- Work with and support the team on various projects and tasks, and also handle your own independent projects. Creating unique and impactful concepts, experiences, and design systems.
- Learn from and implement feedback from senior leadership in order to develop your skills and understand our ways of working. Over time,
- our ‘concept first’ approach and strategic creativity to projects, translating a brand’s essence into unique and relevant creative executions.
- Seek out and collaborate with talented specialists (developers, animators, photographers, filmmakers, writers, etc.) to enhance the quality of the work.
- Work closely with project management to understand timelines and deadlines. Manage your time efficiently to meet deadlines.

**_ Qualifications & Qualities_**
- 3+ years creative experience.
- Proficiency in digital design, including web and product design, motion graphics, 3D, typography, and/or illustration is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in current industry tools, with the adaptability to quickly learn new technologies (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, After Effects, Figma).
- Collaborative. Proactive. Positive. Rigorous.
- A restless thinker with a desire to challenge and surprise those around you.
- Communicative Both when presenting work and internally with the team and project management.
- An keen eye for detail and the ability to take an idea and implement it in new and interesting ways across various media channels.
- Be culturally engaged and perpetually curious about the world around you.

**_ Housekeeping_**
- Applicants must be based in Melbourne and have full working rights in Australia. We offer remote work from home on Mondays & Fridays. Tuesday to Thursday are our in studio days.
- This is a full-time role (9am-6pm, Monday to Friday), but if you’re a freelancer, we’d still love to hear from you.
- This position is for an immediate start.
