2-month temporary contract at a busy eastern suburbs' council

**Your new company**

We are looking for an experienced statutory planner for a busy inner eastern suburb council. The Senior Statutory Planner reports to the Team Leader Statutory Planning and is responsible for effectively assisting in the administration and implementation of the Council’s responsibilities under the Planning and Environment Act, Subdivision Act, Liquor Control Act, the Local Government Act and the Gaming Machine Control Act amongst others.

**Your new role**

Provide high level customer service for colleagues, applicants, other planning referral authorities and the general public.

Remain abreast of contemporary statutory planning practices in Victoria to ensure the provision of accurate and timely planning advice.

Prepare and plan assessment reports, general correspondence and submissions before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal using high level written and verbal communications skills.

Work as part of the team and demonstrate leadership, including through the assistance and mentoring of less experienced staff with general planning matters.

Other duties as directed by the Manager Planning, Health and Local Laws.

Cooperate and comply with the requirements of all Council policies and procedures and any actions taken by Council to comply with relevant Acts and Regulations.

Actively support and promote Equal Opportunity within the workplace in accordance with the relevant laws.

**What you'll need to succeed**

Demonstrated knowledge of statutory procedures and relevant Acts including the Planning and Environment Act, Subdivision Act, Liquor Control Act, the Local Government Act and the Gaming Control Act.

High-level communication skills, analytical and investigative skills.

Ability to positively negotiate and resolve conflict in the achievement of team and organisational goals and objectives.
