Join the energetic Strategic Communications & Advocacy team at Hume City Council to lead Council's day-to-day communications activities and drive Council's digital, social, and visual branding strategies.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of a wide range of external digital communications projects and activities to raise awareness and inform our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.
- Foster new ideas and creative ways of working to ensure Council's digital and social communications are relevant, targeted and have meaningful impact.
- Develop and execute an ongoing communications content plan that supports the objectives of Council's annual communications strategy.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of digital campaigns, delivering data insights and actionable recommendations.
- Champion a culture of digital-by-default across the organisation.
- Keep up to date with the latest digital and social trends and best practice to ensure the Council maximises its channels to achieve strategic communication and marketing objectives.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to support the strategic planning process and delivery of strategic communication campaigns and activities.
- Analyse and report on key metrics, including website traffic and digital campaigns.
- Develop and deliver a results-driven social media strategy to raise awareness, connect and engage with our community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives and events.
- Lead the ongoing development, implementation, and moderation of Council's social media content to support high quality and coordinated information for audiences.
- Coordinate the development of content across social media channels with a consistent brand, tone of voice and imagery with a focus on video and multimedia content for storytelling.
- Strategically drive and evolve Council's websites to ensure their functionality delivers an integrated and seamless customer experience.
- Coordinate the day-to-day management and ongoing development of Council's websites, ensuring content is accurate, well-written and designed for maximum reach and impact.
- Provide high level communications advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team on key issues, policy matters and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.
- Provide trusted advice and thought leadership to the Manager, Strategic Communications and Advocacy, and Director, Customer and Strategy on a range of issues.
- Consistently drive and monitor brand compliance as the internal champion of the Hume City Council brand.

**The skills and experience you'll bring to the role**:

- Ability to plan, research, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.
- Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats including online and digital communication and social media.
- Proficiency in project managing the production of customer communication materials in a corporate environment for a wide range of audiences.
- To manage multiple projects and deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to manage teams and achieve outcomes within set timeframes, budgets and in an environment of change and conflicting demands.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Ability to develop and implement a departmental annual operations plan, service review and budget.

**Required Certifications & Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public relations or marketing or a similar field.
- Demonstrated significant experience in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of integrated communications strategies. Management of digital channels and social media accounts.
- Ability to research, write and edit communication materials for a wide range of mediums and audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a corporate identity to ensure an organisation is portrayed consistently and perceived positively by target groups.
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team in effective and industry-leading strategic communications and stakeholder management.
- A strong understanding of local, state, and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
- A current driver's licence.
