Disability Support Worker North Maleny

- Do you just like teaching people life skills, fostering independence and helping people live the life they choose??? This Participant wants to hear from you._
- This young at heart male of the spritely age of 33 years old wants to get out and amongst it in community and learn how to be a young, independent and how to navigate through life’s trials and tribulations._
- He is not without some of the challenges that life tends to throw out as he has an intellectual disability, hearing loss in one ear, scoliosis and a congenital heart defect. He lives in Maleny and would ideally like to engage a really cool Support Worker to assist him on the following days:_
-   _**Wednesdays (8am - 2pm)**_: Focusing on cooking, garden skills, domestic skills and some community access support_
-   _**Fridays (8am - 11:30am)**_: To do fun stuff like attending activities of his choosing or helping him go to the library, or do his banking, and then drop off at Maroochydore RLSSS where he will attend a cooking class at 11.30am._
- The ideal Support Worker is someone who is well versed in the true meaning of Choice and Control as well as has an understanding of Participant capacity building and doing with and not doing for. This Support Worker needs a drivers licence, their own car and full comprehensive insurance._

- To deliver high quality support to our Clients in the capacity they require, the exact way they would like it delivered
- Communicate effectively and collaborate for our Clients needs with our Clients, team & Support Specialist
- Understand, follow instructions, and be responsive to our Clients needs
- Provide support to our Clients as required
- Have good rapport building skills and a gentle, encouraging manner
- Be reliable and flexible to fill shifts when required
- Have an interest in building a respectful relationship with our Clients
- To support our Clients to achieve their NDIS Goals
- **To be successful you must**:_
- Resonate with the role description above
- Have a genuine desire to positively change people's lives
- Have evidence of eligibility and right to work in Australia
- Hold or be willing to obtain NDIS worker screening or yellow card
- Hold or be willing to obtain a blue card
- Hold Certificate III in disability or related fields (preferred)
- Experience in bowel care/therapy (required)

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $34.45 - $60.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Weekend availability

Supplementary Pay:

- Penalty rates

**Experience**:

- bowel therapy: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)
