The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.
The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.
**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The ABF Workforce Capability Branch delivers functional management, policy and procedural advice to the Australian Border Force (ABF) within the field and compliance, port operations and investigations domains by ensuring the knowledge, skills, abilities and core competencies of its workforce are properly understood and coordinated at an enterprise level.
The ABF Workforce Capability Branch is responsible for providing internal operational policy and procedural advice to ABF officers to ensure a nationally consistent approach to operational delivery.
The Traveller Management Section works across the traveller domain to provide centrally coordinated informed representation for regional aviation and maritime operations teams. This is achieved by collaborating with all stakeholders internally and externally to identify best practice, influence and ensure the inclusion of national consistency into our policy and procedure control framework.
**About the role**:
Traveller Management is looking to fill multiple APS 5 Program Support roles.The Traveller Management team provides advocacy on behalf of regional aviation and maritime traveller operations teams and supports a nationally consistent approach in building officer capability and delivering operational excellence in the facilitation of legitimate travel.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:
- Leading/Contributing to Traveller Management’s work packages including risk assessments, business improvement and ongoing capability requirements of its stakeholders
- Providing accurate advice and information is available across the Traveller domain
- Leading/Contributing to the production of high quality and fit-for purpose portfolio and program reports for stakeholders
- Drafting/Contributing Traveller Management's input into routine briefs (including Senate Estimates, Question Time Briefs and Hot Issues Briefs), Ministerial submissions and/or talking points in line with business requirements
- Proactively contribute to capacity building programs with regional aviation and maritime traveller teams, with a specific focus on training and development programs for officers and identifying gaps.
