Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

**What you'll be doing**

To provide effective clinical management of inpatients and outpatients with a broad range of neurosurgical presentations. There are currently three consultant neurosurgeons at Wollongong Hospital performing cranial, spinal (both simple and complex) and peripheral nerve surgery. There will be considerable clinical and operative experience including hands on training and operative experience in assisting the wide variety of cranial, spinal (both simple and complex) and peripheral nerve surgery performed at Wollongong Hospital. The trainee will take part in the neurosurgical after-hours rosters including weekend and night shifts however the on call roster is shared with the consultants and a consultant is always available.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent) with previous experience in Clinical Neurosurgery
- Sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent surgical trainee
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in teaching both Undergraduate & Postgraduate Students
- Moderate computer skills
