Role Summary

The role of the Counter Terrorism Strategy & Coordination (CTSC) team is to provide centralised support to multijurisdictional joint counter terrorism (CT) operations, provide strategic support through the effective management of functional information, and provide CT policy and administrative support to the AFP Executive and Government, as well as strategic forums such as the Joint Counter Terrorism Board.

Special Investigations Strategy & Coordination (SI-SC) is responsible for investigating complex and protracted investigations that include espionage and foreign interference, secrecy offences, harming Australian offshore, electoral crime, war crimes and counter proliferation. SI-SC provide high-level, timely and strategic policy advice and administrative support to investigators and the AFP Executive and Government regarding these crime types including secretariat duties to the Sensitive Investigations Oversight Board.

The two teams work collaboratively to support the business of the CTSI Command.

As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

Role Description & Responsibilities

**Team members are responsible for delivering the following**:
Researching, analysing and formulating positions to existing and emerging National Security, Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations policy issues.
Contributing to Whole of Government and interagency work in the Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations context.
Contributing to advice to Government and other partners with regards to AFP Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations.
Consulting and liaising with all relevant areas of the AFP and external stakeholders on complex policy and significant law enforcement issues.
Contributing to project and research work to support the CTSI Command.
Contributing to responses to media and FOI enquiries.
Collation of fortnightly functional reports to State Police and partner agencies.
Contributing to the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of AFP operational outcomes.
Providing high-level secretariat duties for AFP Senior Executive level forums.

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
