**Who are we looking for?**
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Administration Officer to join Student Ombudsman, Education Portfolio, Academic Division.
The Administration Officer works pro-actively with staff across the University in supporting the Student Ombudsman team to resolve student grievances and complaints. As the first point of contact the Administration Officer coordinates the management of complaints including undertaking the initial investigation and research phase, summarising available evidence, and providing advice and support to the Student Ombudsman team.

**About the Academic Division**
The Academic Division is responsible for supporting and delivering learning, teaching, research and research services to students and staff. This is realised via the Education and Research portfolios and through the work of our Faculties.
The Head of the Academic Division is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), Professor Robina Xavier. Professor Xavier provides strategic oversight and financial management of the Division and provides leadership to the Education portfolio.
The Division’s Research portfolio and academic faculties, are led by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Professor Christopher Barner-Kowollik.

**About the Student Ombudsman**
The Student Ombudsman offers a free, confidential and independent investigative service into student grievances and complaints, usually relating to academic or administrative decisions. The Student Ombudsman is responsible to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) for maintaining procedures for the informal and formal management of student grievances and complaints. The Student Ombudsman also acts as a catalyst for innovation and improvement by making recommendations for systemic change arising from grievances and complaints.
The Student Ombudsman Office is administratively located within the Academic Division.
**What you need to succeed**
You will demonstrate:
1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in a student support environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a small team as well as the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to undertake comprehensive research and investigation and effectively communicate outcomes.
4. Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain rapport with a culturally diverse student and staff population and with external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
6. Highly developed planning and organisational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet agreed objectives.
