About the role
Assisting with the provision of quality, safe person and family centred care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM). Work may be overseen by an Enrolled Nurse (EN).
5F Orthopaedics is a 29-bed unit providing elective and trauma orthopaedic services within the Critical Care and Surgery Division. The unit operates 24 hours, 7 days a week and cares for adults requiring non-operative and surgical treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. 5F also provides general surgical and sub-specialty services on an as needed basis and cares for a wide range of acute and chronic orthopaedic conditions including hands, shoulders, lower limbs, feet, as well as hip and knee replacements.
Aimed at providing both an exceptional education and a rewarding work experience, 5F Orthopaedics strives to provide high quality, comprehensive clinical treatments for orthopaedic patients in a professional multi-disciplinary environment and is supported by specialist orthopaedic consultants, surgeons and a highly skilled team of medical, nursing and allied health staff including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and an orthogeriatric team attached to our unit.
About you
- Beginning knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and the ability to seek assistance to appropriately manage patient-centred care requirements under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife.
- Ability to work as a team member to achieve clinical and organisational goals.
- Supports and respects the multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively and demonstrating a commitment to achieve common goals.
- Honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and manage own time to meet expectations, with an enthusiastic, calm and flexible approach.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
