Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
The Support and Safety Hubs will bring together different workforces and practices to create an integrated Hub team and a consolidated intake point in the Bayside Peninsula Area to create a new way of support.
The Support and Safety Hub provides:
- a more visible contact point so that people know where to go for specialist support
- help for people to identify family violence and child wellbeing issues
- advice based on contemporary risk assessment tools and guidance
- specialist support and tailored advice for victims, families and children, and perpetrators
- connection and coordination of access to support
- a system-wide view of service capacity, client experience and outcomes
The role you will play
We are seeking a values-driven Support and Safety Hub Practitioner to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective responses to Victorian women, children and families seeking support and safety through the Hub.
You will successfully
- Undertake interim support as a lead practitioner or support worker aligned with the Integrated Practice Framework
- Deliver screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation and coordinated referrals consistent with the Integrated Practice Framework, Operational Guidelines, Service Specifications and relevant risk assessment tools and frameworks.
- Identify, assess and prioritise risk and needs of women and children, families and perpetrators, drawing on the expertise of different practitioners in a multi-disciplinary team.
We have two max term full time, 12 month positions based at our Family Violence Service in Windsor. Travel may be required to our Services in the Bayside Peninsula area.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 6.

You will have
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work / Social Sciences or related fields (essential)
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
- Knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse
- Demonstrated knowledge of Family & Domestic Violence including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation
- A current and valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check is required
- A current VIC Driver’s license
- You will be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements
