The Emergency Department Support Officer (EDSO) works as a member of the Emergency Department team to provide non-clinical support to the Emergency staff complementing the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient care. This includes: transporting of patients to wards and other departments within in the hospital and assisting patients to vehicles and transport, couriering of items, episodic cleaning within the Emergency Department Environment, assisting the delivery of meals and beverages and restocking equipment and deliveries arriving to the department.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
