Challenger Investment Management Fixed Income (CIM FI) is an experienced institutional manager with a strong track record managing a diverse fixed income portfolio, with funds under management of approx. $16.5 billion.
- The investable universe for CIM FI spans public and private credit across debt capital markets, loan markets, asset backed securities as well as alternative debt markets. All investments are made on a relative value basis across the various fixed income asset classes in order to achieve the optimal risk-adjusted return for investors. All investments are made based on the investment guidelines of the respective investor, whether it be Challenger Life Company or a third-party client or fund.
- Due to the growing demand for ABS debt investments, there is a need for an Analyst to join the ABS investment team. This new role will be part of the CIM Fixed Income team and a key member of the team responsible for the domestic securitised credit portfolio.
- The primary focus of the role is on new investment analysis and review, sector updates and investment monitoring. There will be support for career progression and skillset development within this growing team.
- The responsibilities broken down into investment and non-investment:
- Investment- Support Portfolio Managers in investment review and analysis across the securitised credit portfolio.- Prepare and present investment analysis to key stakeholders based on thorough issuer due diligence, portfolio data review, structural analysis and cashflow modelling- Conduct research on new sectors and investment strategies- Support the portfolio and position monitoring process- Providing investment commentary and reporting- Assist Portfolio Managers in originating, analysing and executing new investment opportunities in both public and private structured finance markets.
Non-Investment- Interacting with Middle and Back Office, Finance and Group Credit- Contribution to establishment of efficient procedures and policy documents- Contribution to marketing efforts as required- Preparing and updating presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Skills and experience required:
- Understanding of financial markets and fixed income products - essential- 1-3 years’ experience within securitised credit markets- Strong quantitative skills - ability to work with large data sets, build cashflow models and run robust scenario analysis- Good understanding of global financial markets- Programming ability - not required but an advantage- Strong oral and written communication skills
