**About the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions:
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) represents the State of Queensland in criminal cases. The ODPP's significant responsibility is to prosecute criminal matters in the High Court of Australia, Court of Appeal (Qld), Supreme Court, Mental Health Court, District Court, the Childrens Court of Queensland, and the Magistrates Court (in limited locations and matters).
About your opportunity:
There are three temporary flexible full-time positions available.
1 x vacancy from date of commencement up to 30 June 2026
2 x vacancies from date of commencement up to 30 June 2027
As a Legal Officer, the incumbent will undertake a combination of the following:
Prepare matters referred for prosecution (including appeal submissions) in a professional and timely manner.
Effectively manage relationships with stakeholders, including defence counsel, solicitors, police officers, victims and witnesses.
Appear as an advocate in committal hearings and summary hearings in the Magistrates Court (dependent upon location).
Liaise with complainants and relatives in prosecutions especially in relation to matters involving sexual and violent offences.
Supervise, motivate and provide leadership to legal support staff.
Active involvement in activities aimed at improving work practices.
The ability to supervise, train and mentor legal and support staff to achieve outcomes and possess an ability to identify and address the needs of victims of
The ability to maintain a high standard of professional competence and ethical standards.
Mandatory qualifications, conditions and requirements:
You will be admitted as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia (please indicate date of admission).
