**The Company**

**The Role**
Melbourne Water is the Floodplain Manager for the greater Melbourne area with responsibilities for managing flood risk, both now and into the future.
The Manager Service Programs - Flood & Drainage, leads the team that sets the programs needed to manage flood risk for Melbourne Water customers. The role will support delivery of the Flood Strategy - Port Phillip and Westernport by developing capital works, non-asset and maintenance programs that ensure “flood risks and opportunities are managed to reduce impacts and get the best social, economic and environmental outcomes”. In planning these 5 and 20 year programs, consideration will need to be given to the impacts of climate change and urban growth.
As a senior leader within Melbourne Water, the role provides essential guidance to stakeholders, other senior leaders and executive teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop future focussed 5 and 20 year investment plans for the flood and drainage services across the greater Melbourne region. Investment plans cover flood risk management (mitigation, emergency planning, drainage and flood modelling).
- Deliver programs for best social, economic and environmental outcomes.
- Prioritises investment across asset classes and service offerings to achieve the best outcome for the community.
- Understand the implications of climate change and urban growth and embeds appropriate measures into future plans.
- Work with stakeholders (internal and external) to understand the opportunities of integrated management of assets and services.
- Monitor, assess and respond to asset performance ensuring investments are planned at the optimal point in the lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively across multiple government agencies to identify the right mix of solutions for each location.
- Lead the development and implementation of co-delivery partnerships (service design, co - funding, co-delivery) with key stakeholders and community.
- Engage with the local community to understand and respond to local issues.
- Continue to explore innovative solutions and expand the suite of tools to manage flood risk.
- Meet relevant statutory key performance indicators and industry agreed time frames for customer service.
- Develop and maintain strong internal networks at Melbourne Water and key industry relationships across local government, consultants and universities.
- Manage, develop and coach the Service Program - Flood team.

Ideally you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary degree
- Eligibility for registration under the Victorian Professional Engineers Registration legislation
- Understanding of flood risk management, flood modelling and drainage networks
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships both within and outside the business
- Experience in asset lifecycle management
- Technical leadership and guidance in complex works, projects and programs.
- Capability to practically evaluate options and proposals
- Strong financial and commercial acumen skills to control, budget and forecast expenditure
- A strong customer service and stakeholder engagement focus that prompts consensus building and optimised ‘industry and community outcomes’
