**About the role**
This role is responsible for supporting School Infrastructure with its critical Rebuilding Public Education Program and school maintenance and minor upgrades to meet the needs of a growing student population across NSW. With your expertise in planning law and regulation, you will work in collaboration with the infrastructure delivery, planning and asset management teams of School Infrastructure on complex construction and asset management matters to mitigate legal risk and deliver practical outcomes by providing high-quality legal advice in a timely and reliable manner.
We are seeking lawyers who are passionate about public education and committed to delivering the Plan for NSW Public Education.

**Essential requirements, experience and knowledge**
Your professional credentials, experience and expertise should include:
- legal qualifications and a current unrestricted NSW legal practising certificate
- experience as a solicitor/advocate
- knowledge and experience in the areas of law that impact the NSW Department of Education
- the ability to provide quality independent legal advice and manage legal risk
- complementary capabilities in statutory interpretation, legal research, legal drafting, prosecution and advocacy
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
