**The Role**

Reporting into the Indigenous Engagement & Partnerships Manager, as the Indigenous Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in stakeholder engagement. You will leverage your lived experience and deep understanding of Indigenous Knowledge to implement best practices and protocols across SBS. Your primary focus will be to support and foster new and existing partnerships with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders on issues affecting SBS and NITV, particularly around culture, knowledge, social cohesion, and media. You will also represent SBS and NITV in First Nations engagement forums, ensuring that engagement reflects content strategy, operational needs, policies, and the SBS Charter.

Additionally, you will support research, policy, and strategy development, provide project support within the Corporate Affairs Division, and collaborate with internal teams to advance the Indigenous content strategy. Managing key stakeholder databases and event calendars, delivering resources and communications, and offering culturally informed advice based on audience feedback are also key aspects of this role. Be prepared to travel and work outside standard hours as needed to coordinate and attend events, ensuring effective engagement and representation of SBS and NITV. Prepare to roll up your sleeves and be an integral part of a collaborative engagement team, working together to uphold SBS’s Charter, Vision, and Values.

**About you**

We are seeking a skilled communicator from the Indigenous sector with strong networks, organisational prowess, and excellent writing skills. You will bring:

- ** Deep Understanding**: A strong grasp of Indigenous communities, cultures, and protocols, with the ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully, and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- ** Relationship Building**: Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, and relationship-building skills, capable of fostering trust and working effectively with external stakeholders and partners at all levels.
- ** Experience**: Demonstrable experience working within the Indigenous sector and/or with Indigenous communities. A minimum of 2 years in a similar role focusing on project management, communications, research, or a related area.
- ** Organisational Skills**: Strong organisational and administrative abilities, including the capacity to meet deadlines, prioritise tasks, and provide administrative support to committee meetings.
- ** Analytical Skills**: The ability to interpret and analyse data to inform future strategic directions is highly desirable.
- ** Stakeholder Engagement**: Proven experience in working with diverse stakeholders.
- ** Preferred Background**: While a background in media, communications, journalism, or editorial is highly valued, it is not essential. A background in community development, Indigenous affairs, or administration would also be an excellent fit for this role.
