The Bureau is seeking an experienced Technical and Innovation Manager to lead the investigation, feasibility and implementation of new and emerging technologies to support the Bureaus Observing Networks. This is a key delivery lead position within the Observing Systems & Operations Program providing specialist advice, direction and guidance on the transition to new technological capabilities to support and monitor observing infrastructure.

The Technical and Innovation Manager will manage small teams (including contractors and consultants) and work with specialists responsible to architect, design and develop technological solutions that would transform our business to enable newer capabilities and provide efficiencies.

You will actively engage with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure their requirements are understood and continually met. Drawing on their experience and knowledge, you will be responsible for establishing capability, strategy and methods relating to observing networks to uplift Bureau services in the most cost-effective way.

The position will collaborate closely with teams in the Observing Systems and Operations Program, along with the other areas of the organisation and external stakeholders to develop these capabilities.

The successful applicant will have experience in ICT and engineering solutions and have demonstrated ability to deliver projects and quality outcomes. The position will follow approved project guidelines and processes, including the completion of relevant project artefacts.

You are required to comply with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidance pertinent to your work and ensure that all members of your team do the same, especially with regard to WHSE.

This position will be working in the Data and Digital Group (DDG) in the Observing Systems & Operations Program, undertaking the duties of the Technical and Innovation Manager for the Observing Systems Strategy (OSS) stream.

To be successful you will have:

- Demonstrated minimum five years experience in designing and delivering solutions containing elements of best practice Information Technology (IT)/Operational Technology (OT) architecture, automated business processes and decision making.
- Possess a combination of high levels of IT and OT expertise with significant understanding of business value drivers and strategic vision to enable effective targeting of technical solutions.
- A disciplined approach to problem solving and an ability to critically assess a range of information to differentiate true business needs.
- Define technology roadmaps for proposed solutions and align these with existing operating constraints and prioritised objectives.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment, to collaborate with people, and encourage delivery and innovation.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing others.
- Strong communication and liaison skills with a wide range of high-level coordination and reporting skills.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding, developing or implementing successful strategic initiatives.
- Enthusiasm and drive.
