**About the role**
The Head of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and resilience reports to the Chief Strategy, Sustainability and Technology Officer as a key member of the Leadership team. This critical role exists to lead the execution of the ESG strategy and support a governance structure for oversight over the development and implementation of the ESG initiatives.
The overarching objective is to support Pacific National to reduce its environmental and community impact, focused around improving resource utilisation. Key focus areas centre around:
- Providing advice and input to executive management, team members and other stakeholders on ESG impacts and defining business unit’s responsibilities, including external reporting, audit and assurance and business management
- Plans design and implement an overall environment management process for the organisation
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation in Australia
- Identifying and managing energy/ emissions business, environmental and people risks. Ensure change management processes are followed at governance and individual project levels
- Improving operational efficiencies and managing compliance obligations
- Reducing operational emissions intensity
- Becoming recognised as best in class for energy and emissions improvements
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining communication strategy, geared towards, driving cultural change in energy and emissions management with the business
- Educating stakeholders about the humanitarian, environmental and commercial value of boosting our ESG performance
**About you**
This is a highly influential role within Pacific National, you will be expected to develop strong internal stakeholder relationships across the broader business working closely with Legal, Procurement, Operations and Commercial teams to develop long term sustainable strategy. Demonstrated capability to develop frameworks and implement will be a critical component to the success of this role. You will be a natural communicator with experience leading cultural change with exposure working at Board Level and with external Senior Leaders.
**In addition**:
- Understanding of global ESG rating and analysis provided by research firms and rating houses (DJSI CSA, MSCI, Bloomberg, CDP, etc.)
- Experience building and implementing enterprise-wide strategies
- Program management experience for large scale and/or cross-functional delivery
- Senior stakeholder management
- Analytical capabilities
- Experience with Board member engagement
- 10-15 years’ work experience
