About Us

About the role
The Officer - Resilience (LGBTQI+ and Disabilities) is responsible for supporting and implementing targeted support to individuals, households, and communities from LGBTQI+ and Disabilities backgrounds to ensure they are strong, resilient, and capable of preparing for, responding to, and recovering well from emergencies. The Officer - Resilience (LGBTQI+ and Disabilities) both delivers services directly and mobilises the volunteer workforce to achieve service outcomes. This role also works at a state or territory sector level, with guidance from the Senior Officer Resilience, to increase knowledge and understanding of how disasters impact LGBTQI+ and disabled community members and to promote the importance of preparedness and resilience measures within this target group.

People who have lived experience of being from LGBTQI+ or disability backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role will require some intrastate travel to rural and regional communities.
What you will bring
- Lived experience of LGBTQI+ or the disabled communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of systemic barriers to inclusion for LGBTQI+ and disabled communities.
- Genuine commitment to working with volunteers and the ability to motivate, lead and support volunteer teams.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge, expertise and understanding of disaster resilience, and community development principles.
- Ability to support the development and lead the delivery of training, workshops, and resources.
- Advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to positively influence decision-making processes.
- Analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to use data to inform practice.
- Ability to work under general direction from senior employees within clear objectives and budget constraints.
