About the role
The Officer - Resilience (First Nations) is responsible for supporting and implementing targeted support to individuals, households, and identified First Nations communities to ensure they are strong, resilient, and capable of preparing for, responding to, and recovering well from emergencies. The Officer - Resilience (First Nations) both delivers services directly and mobilises the volunteer workforce to achieve service outcomes. This role also works at a state or territory sector level, with guidance from the Senior Officer Resilience, to increase knowledge and understanding of how disasters impact First Nations communities and to promote the importance of preparedness and resilience measures within these community.
While this role will predominantly be focused on the Resilience and Recovery programs for First Nations communities, the successful applicant will be expected to work with the broader team to ensure an all-of-community resilience approach is being delivered. People who identify as being from the First Nations community are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role will require some intrastate travel to rural and regional communities.
What you will bring
- You will identify as a First Nations person or have significant experience of working with First Nations communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of systemic barriers to inclusion for First Nations communities.
- Genuine commitment to working with volunteers and the ability to motivate, lead and support volunteer teams.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge, expertise and understanding of disaster resilience and community development principles.
- Ability to support the development and lead the delivery of training, workshops, and resources.
- Advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to positively influence decision-making processes.
- Analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to use data to inform practice.
- Ability to work under general direction from senior employees within clear objectives and budget constraints.
- Strong teamwork and intercultural skills

- A valid Western Australian Working With Children’s Check.
- A valid Driver’s Licence

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $ $85,145.84 FTE + superannuation + salary packaging.
