About the Wellbeing Workforce:
The Wellbeing Workforce plays a vital role in supporting students' mental health and wellbeing, working collaboratively within schools' student support and leadership teams. These professionals complement the work of guidance officers, school-based youth health nurses, youth support coordinators, and other departmental wellbeing staff.
About the Role:
As a Guidance Officer, you will:
Provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and tailored support to students on a wide range of matters including learning, behaviour, career development, and mental health.
Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to build effective partnerships with families, school staff, and external agencies.
Conduct observations and assessments to inform personalised learning adjustments and intervention strategies.
Support student decision-making around education and career pathways, and provide ongoing counselling during transitions.
Contribute to student protection and behaviour support initiatives, including the development of individualised support plans.
Provide leadership in times of critical incidents, transitions, and re-engagement in schooling.
Maintain ethical, confidential, and compliant record-keeping practices.
Participate in professional development and lead training for staff and parents on wellbeing-related topics.
In secondary settings, assist in SET planning and career counselling.
If relevant to the role, collaborate on intensive behaviour support for students with high-level needs.
