**Compas** is seeking a
**Cyber Security Specialist **to join a Federal Government Department for a long-term engagement.

In this role you will be responsible for assessing risks stemming from foreign acquisitions of sensitive data within Australia’s critical infrastructure.

**12-month contract with a 12-month extension option**

**Must be an Australian Citizen with a Negative Vetting 1 clearance.**

**Duties**
- Developing a methodology to assess the sensitivity and criticality of data across all critical infrastructure sectors, while also taking into account risks posed by the aggregation of data sets;
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies to manage national security threats and vulnerabilities, including designing a comprehensive risk control guidance to assist in identifying cybersecurity-based risks and initiate control measures for industry;
- Providing expert advice to stakeholders on appropriate risk mitigation strategies for proposed changes;
- Building capacity and resilience within the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Operations Division to address national security issues within Australia’s critical emerging technology, and data related infrastructure;
- Building capacity and supporting staff development of relevant technical knowledge and skills within the cybersecurity sector;
- Contributing to the development of best practice guidelines for assessing security compliance within the legislative framework;
- Ensuring appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy
- and practices;
- Conducting ongoing risk assessments involving high risk vendors, and providing critical cybersecurity
- expertise.
- Providing regulatory and policy advice on cybersecurity and/or data security issues.
