- Provide independent information, advice, support, and referrals to the autism community
- Hybrid workplace with office based in Richmond
As an Advisor for the Autism Connect service, you will provide independent and evidence-based information, referrals, and advice to Autistic people, their families and carers, health professionals, researchers, teachers, employers and the broader community.
Autism Connect advisors offer expert advice in many areas, including:
- exploring autism and Autistic identity
- assessment and diagnosis support
- school and education
- the NDIS
- transition to employment
- behaviour and communication strategies
- referrals to services peer support connections
- finding autism-friendly places and events
- making environments accessible.
You don’t need to be an expert in every single area to apply, but we’d like you to be skilled in at least one area. We are committed to developing you in the other areas through a holistic and comprehensive induction and ongoing training program. This includes supporting you to learn about our technical telephony and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Important notes:
As we recognise this, Amaze have supports in place including crisis call management procedures, regular individual and group clinical supervision, and the employee assistance program.
What you’ll be doing
Autism Connect is a national service open from 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. We are looking to recruit two confident and capable people to work within these hours in a highly collaborative and supportive team.
Your duties will include:
- Provide appropriate referrals to other services.
- Efficiently, accurately, and systematically log all contacts via the PureCloud telephony system, Salesforce CRM, and SharePoint resources to provide timely, effective, and efficient supports to the community.
- Meet or exceed individual KPIs in an at times pressured environment.
You will be working in a highly supportive and collaborative team, who operate from various States/Territories remotely and at the Amaze Richmond office. You will therefore be functioning in a virtual team environment.

To succeed, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, disability, psychology, teaching, or similar professions and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Ability to use of multiple technologies, especially telephony and customer relationship management systems.
- Subject matter knowledge in at least one area (Autistic identity, assessment and diagnosis, education, the NDIS, behaviour strategies, referrals to services, peer support connections). Personal and/or lived experience in these areas is also relevant and will be considered.
- Capacity to manage own emotional response while calmly and empathically supporting the community in potentially highly emotive situations.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage personal responses and professional boundaries.
- Ability to problem solve with reflective thought and consideration.
- Autistic community focused.
- Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are accepted and valued.
Extra information
The successful applicant will also need to complete a successful Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
