**Overview of Frankston Emergency Department**

The Frankston Emergency Department opened in February 2015 and has approximately 73,000 presentations per year, with 20% of these being paediatric presentations. The Frankston Emergency Department is a dynamic and fast paced environment with a strong emphasis on supporting our local community through effective and supportive team work.

**What You Will Be Doing**

This is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding position, suited to an experienced health social worker with a commitment to best practice and provides an exciting opportunity for a social worker looking to strengthen their career within a healthcare environment. This clinical and leadership role will provide an opportunity to showcase your skills in working with people from a range of diverse backgrounds with a range of psychosocial risk factors.
Applicants must be eligible for membership of the AASW, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position will require demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge incorporating Social Work and organisational values, vision, goals, policies and procedures.
This role will require a social work clinical leader who is capable of working in a fast-paced environment, able to balance competing demands and active in problem-solving, negotiation and conflict management. We are interested in social workers who can demonstrate leadership skills in responding to clinical complexity, harm minimisation and risk management.

**The Social Worker’s Responsibilities will include**:

- Assessing, planning and implementing care for patients
- Conducting psychosocial assessment and intervention plans in consultation with consumers and their families to assist in discharge planning
- Provide clinical leadership to all Emergency Department staff
- Provide support and guidance to the Emergency Department and outreach stream of the team

**What You Need**

We anticipate you will have:

- Member of (or eligibility for) membership of the AASW
- Experience working in a hospital setting
- Experience working with family violence and/or prevention of violence
- Excellent skills in comprehensive assessment, planning and counselling
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain at own expense
