Support Worker

**Job description**

The role of a Disability Support Worker involves implementing support services to enhance the living, employment, social, and recreational skills of individuals with disabilities. The primary focus is on promoting community inclusion, independence, decision making, and personal choice based on the specific needs of each individual.

Responsibilities of the Disability Support Worker include contributing to the effective operation of support services, ensuring quality care, and maximizing the abilities of people with disabilities.

We support participants with low, moderate, and high support needs with a physical and or Mental Health diagnosis & across all identified disabilities, from all backgrounds, in single and multiple programs.

**DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assisting with personal tasks
- Providing domestic assistance
- Offering social support
- Assisting with transportation
- Preparing meals
- Encouraging group participation
- Developing life skills
- Ensuring regular documentation and reporting
- Implementing behavioral management strategies

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of 12 months relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles
- Ability to handle complex and challenging situations calmly and rationally.

**SKILLS**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to assist disabled participants.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with participants and stakeholders.
- Strong time management and prioritization abilities
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships.

**SCHEDULE**:

- Afternoon, day, fixed, or flexible shifts
- Availability on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
- Rotating roster and shift work

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Valid Working with Children Check and/or blue card.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and/or yellow card
- Clear National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Australian Driver's License
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- COVID-19 vaccination

Pay: $32.00 - $48.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 - 32 per week
